I am writing this blog entry on Wednesday, September 3 and really don’t remember the actual adult karate class lesson.

On Monday, we did frog hops for warmups and now the same thing on Wednesday. Wednesday’s frog hops were 15 in count and consisted of a set doing the frog hop, down to a pushup and then doing 2 crunches. Since frog hops set me off into a spiral that uncovered hidden pulmonary emboli’s last March, I just won’t do them anymore with any real height in the jump. It’s a mental thing.
Then we partnered up to do some one on one work doing two arm blocks and moving up to some take downs. I still can’t get thrown down too hard since being on Coumadin but I stop taking that pill on August 27 and by Sept 1, it should be out of my system. While on Coumadin, I can bleed 3 to 5 x’s longer than the average person.
After class I was the only one taking a private lesson. So I did 30 minutes on Wednesday and another 30 minutes on Thursday during lunch time. Focused on doing everything left handed including kata’s, DM’s and the top 10 kempos.

Part of warm-ups, we had to do 10 frog hops. I don’t do frog hops anymore and I did an appreviated version of it. I do everything else real hard except for frog hops. Read the early March, 2008 blog postings and you will know why.
Then we partnered up to do some redirection and trapping of a kicking leg coming at you. Some of the trap moves turned into a a full two arm choke hold on the attacker.

Tonights evening karate class consisted of:
- warmups
- partner up and do 1 for 1 kicks and hand strikes
- partner up and do 1 for 1 take downs - attacker punching and then using a club
Then onto the one hour private lesson with 4 other people that included:
- Forms: Pinan 4 and 5, Kata 4 and 6
- Triple up to do DM’s
- Partner up to do knife and club attacks

Missed two classes last week due to being out of town, I still managed to run/walk 21 miles in the 3 days I was traveling and on Friday I took a private lesson to review some of my left handed material. I Ishould be going off Coumadin/Warfarin in about 2 weeks and then I can resume banging hard again.
Tonights karate adult class started off with count downs with the whole class in unison. It’s easier doing it in unison and you still get a decent work out. But doing something 350 times makes it a bit tedious. Then we did some warmup exercises that consisted of doing a right front ball and then a left front ball combo. Then it was a right roundhouse and follow up with a left hook kick. Both on the right and left side combos. Balance was real good and my guard stayed up the whole time.
Then we partnered up to do our DM’s left handed. I didn’t do 11 and 20 too well. After that we did stabbing knife attacks. I have a total of five and did the entire set about 6-7 times.
